LPC Career Exploration Open House
LIVERMORE, Calif.—Las Positas College invites the community to a Career Exploration Open House from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 3. Campus Tours begin at 5 and 6 p.m. and start at the Student Services & Administration Building Patio, Building 1600, near Parking Lot C, where guests can also get information and a campus map. Additionally, a Public Safety Program career fair will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. in the Quad.
“Our Open House provides the perfect opportunity to see our beautiful campus and facilities, meet faculty and students and learn more about college and careers,” said Career and Technical Education Project Manager Vicki Shipman. “We expect to see a wide range of visitors, from high school and middle school students and their parents to professionals interested in advancing their careers.”
Guests can explore career and transfer programs and visit with faculty and students. Representatives from student clubs will be available in the Quad and there will be music and prize drawings. Parking is free. The cafeteria will be open.
Represented programs will include Applied Photography, Automotive Technology, Biological Sciences, Business Studies, Computing Studies, Engineering, Engineering Technology, Interior Design, Mass Communications, Theater Arts, and Visual Communications/Graphic Design.
The Public Safety Program career fair from 1 to 5 p.m. in the Quad will feature the following programs: Administration of Justice, Paramedic/Emergency Medical Services and Fire Service Technology. Program vehicles will be on display and visitors can discuss careers with faculty, students, alumni, and representatives from area public safety agencies.
Las Positas College is consistently ranked among the top community colleges in California. Explorer Posts are open to young men and women, typically between the ages of 14-20, although specific explorer program age ranges may vary. Explorer programs are characterized by career exploration activities, including hands-on training and mentorship opportunities, in the area of focus. If an Explorer Post exists in an area in which you are interested, take advantage of this chance to learn more about a career in the industry while still a high school student.
